Hyderabad's SHE Teams Crack Down on Public Indecency

In a week-long operation, Hyderabad's Cyberabad SHE Teams and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) have taken decisive action to curb public indecency and related crimes. The recent crackdown, which began on October 26, has led to the apprehension of numerous individuals, sending a strong message about the city's commitment to public safety and security.

The SHE Teams conducted a total of 142 decoy operations, a strategic move to catch offenders in the act. This resulted in the red-handed capture of 76 individuals engaging in indecent behavior in public spaces. The swift action serves as a warning to potential offenders, demonstrating the authorities' zero-tolerance policy. Most of these cases were petty offenses, and the offenders were booked accordingly, while the remaining individuals were counselled, offering a chance for reform and deterrence.

The AHTU's efforts also led to the rescue of three victims of human trafficking and the apprehension of five accused persons in two PITA cases. This success highlights the effectiveness of the special drive in addressing serious crimes. Additionally, the Women and Child Safety Wing played a crucial role in resolving family disputes, reuniting 29 families at the Family Counselling and CDEW Centres.

"We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens," said Deputy Commissioner of Police K Srujana. "Through these operations, we aim to create a safer environment, raise awareness, and empower individuals to report any form of harassment or trafficking." The comprehensive approach, including awareness programs attended by 223 participants, emphasizes the city's dedication to tackling various social issues head-on.
