In a significant operation, the Cyberabad police have demonstrated their commitment to combating human trafficking and maintaining public decency. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and the She Teams, in a coordinated effort, conducted a series of raids and decoy operations, resulting in numerous arrests and the rescue of vulnerable individuals.
During the week-long drive, the AHTU arrested five individuals and rescued three victims of trafficking. This operation underscores the ongoing battle against human trafficking, a global issue with local implications. The unit also targeted illegal activities under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA), apprehending nine transgender individuals during night raids. These actions highlight the comprehensive approach taken by the Cyberabad police to address various forms of exploitation.
Simultaneously, the She Teams, dedicated to ensuring women's safety, conducted 142 decoy operations, leading to the detention of 76 individuals for indecent behavior in public spaces. This initiative sends a clear message about the zero-tolerance policy for such activities. Petty cases were filed in over half of the instances, while the remaining offenders were counselled, emphasizing both punishment and reform. The She Teams' work is further evidenced by the 17 complaints received from women during the week, indicating a growing trust in the system.
The efforts of the Cyberabad police extend beyond enforcement. Family Counselling Centres and the Centre for Development and Empowerment of Women (CDEW) successfully reunited 29 couples, showcasing a commitment to resolving domestic disputes and promoting family harmony. Additionally, awareness programs organized by the AHTU and She Teams reached 223 participants, educating the public about various crimes and providing essential helpline information.
