Indore Police Use Drones to Fight Crime, Arrest One

In a significant move to combat crime, the Indore Police have taken to the skies, deploying drone technology to monitor the city's hotspots and shadow areas. This innovative approach has already yielded results, leading to the arrest of a man for illegal drug consumption.

The operation, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Anand Kaladgi, aims to identify and target locations where anti-social elements congregate, such as liquor shop surroundings, open grounds, and secluded spots. On October 31, a drone-assisted surveillance mission was conducted by the Chandan Nagar police station team, covering the entire jurisdiction. The drone's eye in the sky spotted suspicious activity near a run-down building behind Green Park ground, a known gathering place for illicit activities. The aerial footage revealed three individuals hiding, triggering a swift ground response from the police.

Upon raiding the site, the officers found 31-year-old Shubham Shalvi, a resident of Indranagar, smoking cannabis. Shalvi was promptly detained, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act. This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of drone surveillance in reaching areas that are challenging for regular patrols.

"Drone surveillance has proven to be a valuable asset in our fight against crime," said DCP Kaladgi. "It allows us to maintain a discreet yet comprehensive watch on criminal activities, especially in areas that are physically challenging to monitor. We aim to continue using technology to enhance our capabilities and ensure public safety." This initiative reflects the Indore Police's commitment to adopting modern techniques to address crime proactively, marking a significant step forward in their law enforcement strategies.
