Pic Talk: Pawan Kalyan Attends Secretariat Meeting with Saline Drip

In a high-stakes interaction with the 16th Finance Commission of India, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made a strong pitch for central support to propel the state’s flagship development projects—Amaravati and Polavaram. The meeting took place at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat, underscoring its significance in shaping the financial future of the state.

Joining the crucial dialogue was Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who, despite being on a saline drip, participated in the session, reflecting the urgency and seriousness of the occasion. Kalyan presented important proposals regarding Panchayat Raj allocations, highlighting rural development as a key area requiring attention.

CM Naidu focused his pitch on two pillars of Andhra’s future—Amaravati as the administrative capital and Polavaram as the agricultural backbone. Speaking to the delegation led by Commission Chairman Arvind Panagariya, Naidu emphasized that both projects are critical lifelines for the state’s socio-economic growth and long-term sustainability.

He presented a broader roadmap, which included:

  • Completion of Polavaram and its Banakacherla link
  • Accelerated development of Amaravati
  • Infrastructure expansion including ports, airports, and national highways
  • The vision of Swarnandhra by 2047, aligning with India’s centenary goals

Naidu argued that with the right central backing, Andhra Pradesh has the potential to emerge as a model state contributing significantly to India's progress. His appeal stressed that current investments into Amaravati and Polavaram would have multi-generational impacts, transforming both agriculture and urban infrastructure.

Reports suggest that the Finance Commission responded positively to the state's detailed presentations, signaling a possible boost in fund allocations. With this strategic outreach, the Naidu government has reinforced its developmental agenda, setting the stage for renewed financial cooperation between the Centre and Andhra Pradesh.
