In a significant drug enforcement operation, Hyderabad's Gachibowli police and the Madhapur special operations team (SOT) have arrested 11 individuals, exposing a far-reaching narcotics network. The joint raid, conducted on November 3, targeted a co-living space and hostel in TNGOs Colony, Gachibowli, and subsequently, a hotel in Madhapur, leading to multiple arrests and substantial drug seizures.
The operation commenced with the apprehension of two architects, Gutha Teja Krishna and Pakanati Lokesh Reddy, at the Gachibowli residence. Their capture led the police to a hotel in Madhapur, where nine more suspects were detained. The arrested individuals, including Vennela Ravi Kiran, Peddamantoor Harshavardhan Reddy, and others, were found in possession of various illicit substances, mobile phones, and cash.
The police confiscated 32.14 grams of MDMA, a popular synthetic drug, along with 4.67 grams of ganja, indicating a potential large-scale distribution operation. The raid also yielded two motorcycles, six mobile phones, and packaging materials, suggesting a well-organized supply chain. Notably, 19 individuals, including two Nigerian nationals and several locals, remain at large, according to police sources.
Additional DCP N. Uday Reddy of the Madhapur Zone emphasized the operation's broader implications, stating, "We are tracing the interstate links and working to identify the remaining suspects." This statement underscores the ongoing efforts to dismantle the drug network, which allegedly sourced narcotics from Karnataka and other states, highlighting the complex nature of drug trafficking in the region. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody, and the investigation continues, aiming to bring the entire network to justice.
