Nashik Police Nab Repeat Offender with a Large MD Haul

In a significant drug bust, Nashik's law enforcement dealt a blow to the city's drug trade, seizing a substantial quantity of mephedrone (MD) and apprehending a repeat offender. The operation, a joint effort between the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the city police, highlights the authorities' commitment to curbing the rising drug problem in the region.

The suspect, Pratik Adhangle, a Cidco resident, was arrested on Tuesday with 21.5 grams of MD, valued at a substantial Rs 65,000. This arrest is just the latest in Adhangle's long history of run-ins with the law, which includes numerous body offence cases and a previous arrest under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA). Senior PI Vishwas Patil of the Mumbai Naka police station commended the ANTF's proactive approach, stating that the team acted on a tip-off, successfully trapping and apprehending Adhangle. The operation also resulted in the seizure of the vehicle used in the crime.

This incident underscores the growing concern over drug consumption in Nashik and across the state. The formation of the ANTF at the state level is a strategic move to combat drug peddling effectively. The Nashik city police and regional units have been actively addressing this issue, as evidenced by their continuous efforts and this recent successful operation.

The arrest of Adhangle and the seizure of a significant amount of MD is a testament to the police's dedication to maintaining law and order. As the war on drugs intensifies, such operations will likely become more frequent, aiming to disrupt the supply chain and deter potential offenders. The public can expect further updates as the authorities continue their efforts to keep the streets of Nashik safe and drug-free.
