In a significant development, the Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) has embarked on a mission to transform the city's green spaces, with 30 parks already undergoing a stunning makeover. This ambitious project, part of the city beautification programme, aims to enhance the quality of public spaces and the overall urban environment.
NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan revealed that the initiative is well-funded, with a substantial 25 crore investment. This includes a generous 20 crore contribution through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, demonstrating the private sector's commitment to community development. Additionally, 5 crore has been allocated from the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) funds and municipal general funds, ensuring the project's financial stability.
The progress is impressive, with 30 parks in the Nellore City constituency already rejuvenated and 14 more nearing completion by the end of this month. The NMC's dedication to this cause is further evident in the Nellore Rural constituency, where 29 parks have been revamped with new compound walls and lush greenery, thanks to a 7 crore investment in the first phase. Another 20 parks will soon undergo similar enhancements in the second phase.
The NMC's efforts complement the earlier initiative by Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who launched the 'Chandranna Parkula Baata' programme to develop parks in his constituency. The NMC's current work focuses on improving infrastructure, amenities, and maintenance, ensuring these parks become vibrant community hubs. With the Commissioner's recent visit to several parks, including Satyanarayanapuram Park and Zakir Hussain Nagar Park, the NMC is ensuring that the project stays on track, providing residents with much-needed green spaces and recreational areas.
