Andhra Pradesh Lands a Solar Manufacturing Boom

In a significant development for India's renewable energy sector, Telangana-based Premier Energies has announced a substantial investment of Rs. 5,942 crore in Andhra Pradesh, marking a strategic move to establish a solar manufacturing hub in the state. This investment decision underscores the state's growing appeal as a clean energy destination and its commitment to fostering sustainable industrial growth.

The project, set to be located at Naidupeta Industrial Park in Nellore district, will encompass a 4 GW TOPCon solar cell unit and a 5 GW silicon ingot and wafer plant. This integrated facility promises to be a game-changer, creating approximately 3,500 direct jobs and countless indirect employment opportunities as the solar ecosystem expands. The location's proximity to major ports provides logistical advantages, facilitating efficient transportation and distribution.

Andhra Pradesh's swift and efficient facilitation of this project is noteworthy. The state government, through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), allocated 269 acres of land within a record time frame, demonstrating its proactive approach to attracting investments. HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh praised the state's efforts, stating that this investment will drive backward integration, strengthen the green economy, and provide sustainable livelihoods for the youth.

As the project scales up to a planned 7 GW capacity, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a leading solar manufacturing hub in India. This development not only reinforces the state's commitment to clean energy but also highlights its strategic vision for industrial growth, attracting major players in the renewable energy sector. With the potential for significant job creation and economic benefits, this investment is a step towards a greener and more prosperous future for Andhra Pradesh.
