Hyderabad Drug Bust: Car Tire Conceals 15 kg of Ganja

In a recent drug bust, Telangana excise officers have demonstrated their keen eye for detail and determination to disrupt drug trafficking networks. On Saturday, November 8, a routine checkpoint near Ramoji Film City led to the arrest of two men transporting a substantial amount of ganja hidden in a car tire. This incident sheds light on the innovative tactics employed by smugglers and the challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing the illicit drug trade.

The operation commenced when officials received a tip-off about a smuggling plan orchestrated by Umakant Nagar, a supplier from Malkangiri district in Odisha. Nagar had enlisted Nilambar Mirkan to transport the drugs to Hyderabad. As the suspects' vehicle approached the checkpoint, officers initiated a search, initially finding nothing out of the ordinary. However, their expertise and vigilance paid off when they noticed the spare tire in the trunk had been tampered with. Upon closer inspection, they uncovered a clever concealmentfour packets of ganja, weighing a total of 15 kilograms, hidden within the tire.

The quick thinking and thoroughness of the excise team resulted in the immediate arrest of both Nilambar Mirkan and his companion, Sona Kala. The vehicle and the contraband were seized, with the case now registered at the Hayathnagar excise station. This successful operation underscores the importance of proactive policing and the ongoing battle against drug trafficking across state borders.

"We will continue to intensify our efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating between Odisha and Telangana," vowed a senior excise official. This statement highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to maintain a strong presence at checkpoints and adapt to the evolving tactics of smugglers. The public can expect further investigations and a continued crackdown on illegal drug activities in the region.
