Nellore's Night Raids: Uncovering Illegal Activities

In a sweeping display of law enforcement, the Nellore district police conducted a massive operation, raiding hotels, lodges, and various accommodations across the region. The initiative, led by SP Dr. Ajita Vajendla, aimed to tackle crime and ensure public safety through rigorous inspections.

The operation's intensity was evident in the late-night raid at a lodge in Santapeta, where six individuals were detained, and a substantial 6 kg of ganja was confiscated. This raid was just one part of a meticulously planned strategy involving 77 special teams, each equipped with an officer, a female constable or home guard, and three additional personnel. These teams meticulously scrutinized various aspects of the establishments, from establishment records and CCTV footage to trade licenses and safety certificates.

The results of these surprise checks were eye-opening. Out of the numerous lodges and similar establishments, only a fraction adhered to the necessary safety and legal requirements. Just 31 had fire NOCs, 34 had GST registration, and a mere 23 possessed FSSAI certificates. This lack of compliance highlights a significant issue within the district's hospitality sector.

SP Dr. Vajendla's instructions were clear: strict legal action against violators and a mandate for all hotels and lodges to install CCTV cameras for enhanced security. The operation's success lies not only in the immediate seizures but also in its long-term impact on public safety and the message it sends to potential lawbreakers. The district police's commitment to maintaining law and order is evident, and the public is encouraged to play an active role in this mission by reporting any suspicious activities.
