Nellore's Development Push: Ministers Pledge Action on Key Concerns

The bustling Zilla Parishad hall in Nellore played host to a pivotal meeting of the District Development Review Committee (DDRC) on Saturday, where a comprehensive agenda covering various sectors was addressed. Chaired by District Collector Himanshu Shukla, the gathering included a formidable lineup of political figures, with Minister N.M.D. Farooq, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, and Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana at the forefront. The presence of MPs Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Beeda Mastan Rao, along with various MLAs and senior officials, underscored the meeting's significance.

Minister Farooq, lauding the coordinated efforts during Cyclone Montha, assured swift action on the issues discussed. The meeting's agenda was diverse, spanning agriculture, irrigation, housing, national highway projects, and the critical aspect of road safety. In a significant move, Farooq directed officials to prioritize road infrastructure, emphasizing the construction of underpasses and flyovers to enhance safety. This directive resonates with the public's growing concern over road accidents and congestion.

The Irrigation Advisory Board (IAB) meeting, held in conjunction, brought forth a crucial announcement. Minister Farooq revealed that irrigation water for the upcoming 2025-26 Kharif season will be released from November 15, with a substantial allocation of 73 TMC ft from Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs. This decision aims to irrigate 7.3 lakh acres in Nellore and Tirupati districts, showcasing the government's commitment to agricultural development. The joint efforts of Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu and senior irrigation officials were evident in these strategic moves.

With road safety becoming a standing agenda item in future DDRC meetings, the ministers and officials are poised to address the public's concerns and drive tangible improvements in the district's infrastructure and agricultural prospects. This collaborative approach promises a brighter, safer, and more prosperous future for Nellore and its surrounding areas.
