Ferozepur's Underground Trade: Uncovering a Dangerous Smuggling Ring

In a significant blow to cross-border criminal activities, Ferozepur police have successfully dismantled multiple weapon and drug trafficking networks, leading to the arrest of four individuals and the confiscation of a substantial arsenal of firearms and narcotics. This operation highlights the ongoing battle against illegal trade along the border regions.

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, revealed that the operation commenced with a crucial tip-off, resulting in the interception of two suspects, Gurpreet Singh and Vikramjit Singh, near the Basti Boote Wala cremation ground. The police seized two Glock pistols, ammunition, and a motorcycle from their possession, indicating a potential arms smuggling attempt. The subsequent interrogation led to a startling revelation: Vikramjit Singh admitted his connection with a Pakistani smuggler, Sikandar, and claimed to have previously sourced an AK-47 rifle through this illicit network. This confession prompted further searches, yielding two additional Glock pistols at the same location.

The operation's reach extended further as the police also targeted drug trafficking. In separate incidents, Baggha Singh and Luvjit Singh were apprehended with significant quantities of heroin and opium, respectively. These seizures, amounting to 532 grams of heroin and 1.05 kilograms of opium, underscore the diverse and dangerous nature of the smuggling operations.

SSP Sidhu emphasized that the accused will face legal proceedings, and further investigations will aim to unravel the full extent of this cross-border smuggling ring. This successful operation not only disrupts illegal trade but also underscores the importance of intelligence-led policing in safeguarding the region's security and stability. With the accused set to face justice, the authorities' focus now shifts to gathering more intelligence and dismantling the broader network behind these illicit activities.
