Hyderabad's Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has been relentless in its pursuit of drug-related crimes, with a significant focus on foreign nationals. Since 2022, the department has arrested and deported 56 individuals from over a dozen countries, shedding light on a growing international drug trafficking network.

The statistics are alarming. Among the 56 deported, 33 were directly involved in synthetic drug trafficking, with Nigerian nationals accounting for the majority. This group was responsible for peddling harmful synthetic substances, posing a severe threat to public health and safety. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Y.V.S. Sudheendra revealed that the arrested individuals hailed from various nations, including Sudan, Yemen, Tanzania, Ghana, Palestine, Uganda, and Guinea, indicating a diverse and well-connected criminal network.

In addition to drug-related offenses, H-NEW also addressed the issue of illegal stays. Twenty-three foreign nationals were found residing in India without valid passports or visas, raising concerns about national security. The authorities swiftly coordinated with embassies and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to arrange travel documents and ensure their deportation.

The H-NEW's efforts highlight the complex nature of international drug trafficking and the importance of vigilant law enforcement. By taking action against these criminal activities, Hyderabad's police force is sending a clear message: drug-related crimes will not be tolerated, and those who engage in them will face the full force of the law.
