Nellore's Infrastructure Revamp: Minister Promises Swift Action

In a significant development for the city of Nellore, the State Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister, Ponguru Narayana, has pledged to address longstanding infrastructure issues, particularly those that have plagued the city during the rainy season. The Minister's assurance came as he laid the foundation stones for critical road construction projects at two key locations: the Sunday Market and the underbridge near Atmakur bus stand.

Minister Narayana, addressing the media, emphasized the coalition government's commitment to finding permanent solutions. He announced that the road construction at the Atmakur bus stand underbridge, a congested area, will be swiftly executed with a budget of 2 crore and completed within a tight 44-day timeframe. To minimize traffic disruptions, the project will be carried out in phases, with the first phase focusing on one side of the road. The Minister also revealed that the road's inauguration is set for December 31, coinciding with the foundation-laying ceremony for the second phase of the project, valued at 1 crore.

The Minister also acknowledged the challenges faced at the Sunday Market, where water stagnation during the rainy season has been a persistent issue. He credited local TDP leaders for bringing this to his attention and explained that field inspections identified encroachments on drains as the primary cause. To rectify this, Narayana proposed widening the nearby canals, including Uyyala, Ramireddy, Mallappa, and Gachu, by removing encroachments. He appealed for cooperation from encroachers, promising that the civic staff would then clear the silt from the canals, ensuring smooth rainwater flow and preventing future waterlogging in the market.

With these initiatives, the Minister aims to provide much-needed relief to traders and residents alike, marking a significant step towards improving Nellore's infrastructure and addressing long-standing civic issues.
