Nellore's Farmers Reap Rewards: A Boost for Agriculture

The agricultural landscape of Nellore district is set for a significant transformation as the government's welfare schemes bring much-needed relief to local farmers. In a recent announcement, Collector O Anand revealed that a substantial number of farmers, totaling 1,95,866, will receive financial support under the Annadatha Sukhibhava Scheme (ASS). This initiative promises a substantial benefit of Rs 5,000 per farmer, amounting to a total disbursement of Rs 97.933 crore in the scheme's inaugural phase.

Anand further elaborated on the benefits, stating that the Prime Minister Kisan Yojana (PMSY) would complement the ASS. In its 20th phase, the PMSY will extend its reach to 1,68,350 farmers, providing each with Rs 2,000, totaling Rs 37.67 crore. This combined effort ensures that eligible farmers in the district can access a substantial annual sum of Rs 20,000.

The official launch of the ASS is set to take place in the village of East Veeraiah Palem, Darsi mandal, Prakasam district, on Saturday, with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu presiding over the event. The Collector emphasized the transparency of the beneficiary selection process, assuring that it is based on documented evidence. Farmers who believe they should be included can approach the local Rythu Seva Kendram to ensure their enrollment.

This comprehensive support system aims to empower farmers, providing them with the resources to invest in their land and contribute to the district's agricultural prosperity. With the government's commitment to transparency and the substantial financial aid on offer, Nellore's farming community is poised for a brighter, more sustainable future.
