On September 10, 2022, the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) awarded grants of Rs. 5 lakhs each to ten innovative teams as part of the Smart Farm Grant Challenge (SFGC). The grant distribution took place at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi, with Sh. Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary of MeitY, presenting the cheques. The selected teams, which include A2P Energy Solution Private Limited, Ag Automate Private Limited, and others, were chosen for their pioneering solutions to enhance the timing of sugarcane harvest. This initiative, launched on May 9, 2022, aims to address key challenges in agriculture using advanced ICT tools.
The Smart Farm Grant Challenge, backed by a total grant of Rs. 2.54 crore, attracted 474 applications. Out of these, 108 were shortlisted, and 25 presented their solutions to a jury of experts.
The ten awarded teams will now develop prototypes of their solutions within three months. Successful prototypes will proceed to the next phase, which includes additional funding of Rs. 20 lakh and a chance to win a grand prize of Rs. 50 lakh, along with operational support for two years.
