In a significant move to support the agricultural community, the Andhra Pradesh government has distributed a substantial sum of Rs 3,077 crore among 46.22 lakh farmers across the state. This initiative, a joint effort under the AnnadathaSukhibhava Scheme (ASS) and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana (PM-KY), was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
The disbursement event, held in Coimbatore and Pendlimarri, YSR Kadapa district, respectively, marked a crucial phase in the state's welfare programs. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who played a pivotal role in the distribution, revealed that the Nellore district alone witnessed a significant allocation of Rs 130 crore for 1.95 lakh farmers. Atmakur constituency, within the district, received a substantial share of Rs 22.93 crore for 34,233 farmers.
The minister emphasized the government's dedication to farmers' welfare and quality education for underprivileged students. He urged continued public support to sustain and expand these initiatives. The event also shed light on the progress of irrigation projects, notably the Somasila High-Level Canal (SHLC), which is nearing completion. This project promises to provide essential drinking water to 93,000 families in the drought-prone Marripadu mandal and irrigation facilities for 45,000 acres of land.
Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy lauded Chief Minister Naidu's leadership, attributing the district's industrial growth and multinational interest to his welfare-development balance despite financial challenges. This event signifies a significant step towards rural development and underscores the government's commitment to uplifting the agricultural sector, which forms the backbone of the state's economy.
