In a proactive move to enhance road safety, District Collector Himanshu Shukla has directed a comprehensive strategy to tackle nine identified danger zones in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. This initiative, unveiled during a dedicated road safety committee meeting, aims to significantly reduce accidents and improve overall traffic management.

The meeting, chaired by Shukla, brought together key stakeholders, including officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla, and representatives from the Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) and local police. The focus was on implementing practical measures to address the district's most hazardous road stretches.

Shukla emphasized the need for immediate action, suggesting the installation of speed breakers and fluorescent indicators at these accident-prone locations. He also proposed signage boards and solar-powered blinking lights at highway intersections to enhance visibility and alertness. The Collector's directives extended to the APSRTC officials, instructing them to ensure buses do not stop at the entrance and exit points of the RTC bus stand, streamlining traffic flow.

Furthermore, the NMC and Traffic Police have been tasked with keeping road margins free from encroachments, particularly around major bus stands like Madras Bus Stand, Atmakur Bus Stand, and Stonehousepet. The Traffic Police are also advised to designate parking areas strategically to prevent congestion during peak hours. This comprehensive approach aims to make Nellore's roads safer and more efficient, demonstrating a commitment to public welfare and proactive governance.

As the district gears up to implement these measures, the collective efforts of various departments are expected to bring about a tangible improvement in road safety, reflecting a responsible and responsive administration.
