Hyderabad's police force is taking a firm stand on women and children's safety, with Commissioner VC Sajjanar leading the charge. In a recent review meeting at the ICCC Auditorium, the Commissioner sent a clear message: zero tolerance for negligence in protecting the city's most vulnerable.

The meeting, held in the heart of Banjara Hills, focused on scrutinising the performance of the women's safety department. Commissioner Sajjanar examined cases registered in women police stations, ensuring that every report is thoroughly investigated and not merely dismissed. He emphasised the importance of empathy and a humane approach when dealing with victims, a critical aspect of building trust and encouraging more people to come forward.

The Commissioner's directives were comprehensive, addressing various aspects of women and children's safety. He instructed the SHE teams, Bharosa, and Anti-Human Trafficking divisions to work closely, ensuring a coordinated effort. Sajjanar also highlighted the need for public awareness, suggesting self-defence programs and education on consent for children to identify inappropriate behaviour. The meeting brought attention to the often-overlooked issue of child labour, with the Commissioner urging the rescue and protection of children working in industries like laundry shops and cycle repair, and advocating for strict action against exploiters.

With a focus on accountability, the Commissioner warned of strict action against negligent officers handling POCSO and rape cases. He also outlined measures to ensure convicted offenders face consequences, including restrictions on government employment and travel. This comprehensive review meeting, attended by senior officials, including Additional CP (Crimes) Srinivas and DCP (Women Safety) Lavanya Nayak, marks a significant step towards a safer Hyderabad, where the police force is committed to protecting women and children through proactive measures and stringent accountability.
