In a shocking revelation, a 39-year-old man, Bathini Shashikanth, has been unmasked as a master of deception, leaving a trail of duped victims and a web of intricate lies in his wake. For over two years, this con artist posed as a high-ranking government official, weaving a complex tapestry of impersonation, forgery, and extortion.
The Hyderabad Police, led by West Zone Deputy Commissioner Ch Srinivas, uncovered a sophisticated charade where Shashikanth assumed the identities of an IAS Officer, an IPS Officer, and even an NIA Officer. With fake identity cards, visiting cards, and forged documents, he crafted a persona of authority and power. To complete the illusion, he hired two bodyguards and equipped them with weapons, adding a menacing touch to his act. The imposter's attention to detail was remarkable, even fixing police sirens to his private vehicles and using walkie-talkies to mimic official communication.
The scheme culminated in a bold scam where Shashikanth targeted Ali Hassan, the Managing Director of Gold Gym. He promised to assist in procuring industrial land and offered various official favors, all under the guise of his fabricated government positions. The deception resulted in a substantial financial loss for Hassan, who transferred Rs.10.50 lakh to Shashikanth through various means. However, the fraudster's luck ran out when the Filmnagar police, acting on credible information, swiftly apprehended him from his temporary residence in Shaikpet.
The police have warned the public to be vigilant against such imposters and have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities. As the investigation unfolds, the authorities aim to unravel the full extent of Shashikanth's fraudulent activities and bring his elaborate charade to an end.
