Air India Passenger Arrested for Harassment and Obscene Threats

In a disturbing incident, a passenger on an Air India flight from Dubai to Hyderabad was arrested for sexually harassing a female flight attendant and leaving an obscene note targeting the crew. This incident highlights the persistent issue of in-flight harassment and the challenges faced by airline staff.

The accused, a Kerala native in his 30s, allegedly touched the flight attendant inappropriately while she was serving him. The cabin crew's vigilance noticed his apparent intoxication, which may have contributed to his brazen behavior. After landing, the crew promptly reported the incident to the ground staff and the pilot, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring a safe environment.

The situation escalated when the passenger claimed to have lost his passport, leading the flight crew to search for it. Instead of the passport, they discovered a note filled with abusive and obscene remarks directed at the crew. This shocking revelation prompted the crew to file a formal complaint, resulting in the passenger's arrest.

Inspector Kankaiah Samapathi of the RGI Airport police station confirmed that the accused was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 74 for assault with intent to outrage modesty and Section 75 for sexual harassment. The accused was remanded to judicial custody, sending a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing in-flight misconduct and ensuring the safety and respect of all passengers and crew members.
