In a shocking incident, a 71-year-old Hyderabad resident, Chaganti Hanumantha Rao, fell victim to a sophisticated digital scam, resulting in a staggering loss of 1.9 crore rupees. The victim received a phone call from imposters posing as CBI officials, a tactic often employed by scammers to exploit the trust associated with government authorities. Rao, unaware of the scam, deposited the enormous sum of 1.9 crore rupees into various bank accounts over a week, from November 7 to 14. The scammers' use of a Canara Bank ATM card photo and a forged FIR added a layer of authenticity to their deceit, making it harder for the victim to recognize the fraud.

The Hyderabad cybercrime police's swift action led to the arrest of three individuals: Pandu Vinith Raj, G Thirupathaiah, and Gouni Vishwanatham. These suspects were allegedly involved in multiple cases, with two in Telangana alone. The main accused, Sandeep, also known as Alex, remains at large. The police's timely intervention prevented further damage, but the incident underscores the sophistication of modern cybercrimes and the emotional manipulation tactics employed by scammers.
