In a bold move to combat the rising tide of cybercrime, Telangana has launched a comprehensive six-week campaign, 'Fraud Ka Full Stop', marking a significant shift in the state's approach to online security. This initiative, unveiled at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad, underscores the government's commitment to making cybercrime investigation an integral part of core policing.
Director General of Police, Shivadhar Reddy, emphasized the urgency of this initiative, stating, "Cybercrime can no longer be a specialized niche; it must be addressed by all police units." His remarks highlight a growing concern as cybercrime in India surged by 29%, while Telangana aims to reverse this trend with an 8% decline. The state's efforts have already shown promise, with financial losses reduced by 30%, significantly outpacing the national average of 6%.
The campaign's launch event was a testament to its comprehensive nature, with the unveiling of posters, jingles, and awareness films. Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) Director Shikha Goel described the campaign as a "people-centric movement," with each week dedicated to specific themes like reporting, digital arrest scams, investment fraud, and online safety for women and children. The campaign will reach out to approximately five lakh citizens through various events, including workshops, school programs, rallies, and live online interactions.
As Telangana's cybercrime response infrastructure takes center stage, the state aims to empower its citizens with knowledge, ensuring that cyber safety becomes a daily practice. With a focus on education and prevention, the campaign is set to make a significant impact, potentially influencing national strategies in the ongoing battle against cybercrime.
