In a late-night operation by the Telangana State Task Force (Prohibition & Excise Department), police raided the house of alleged drug-peddler Neetubai at Nanakramguda in Hyderabad. The raid resulted in seizure of 786 grams of ganja, 110 bottles of beer and other liquor, a two-wheeler, and cash (approximately ₹ 60,890) believed to be proceeds from the illicit sale.
Three people were arrested in connection with the raid: Govind, Durgesh and Durga Prasad — the latter identified as Neetubai’s son.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that the ganja was sourced from the eastern state of Odisha and then trafficked into Hyderabad for sale.
Authorities say the operation was based on specific intelligence that the house was being used to store and distribute narcotics and liquor illicitly. The seized contraband and accused have been handed over to the local excise authorities for further legal action.
The raid is being seen as a significant blow to a trafficking ring operating in parts of Hyderabad, especially targeting working professionals in nearby IT-corridor locales. Neetubai, long known in police records, remains at large. Officials have intensified their search, saying they hope to apprehend her soon to dismantle the broader supply chain.
This incident underlines the continued challenge the city faces in curbing narcotics and illicit liquor trafficking — even as enforcement agencies claim to be stepping up operations in high-risk zones.
