Rajendranagar Police & Cyberabad SOT Bust Interstate Drug Racket — 6 Held With MDMA, Ganja

Police said the operation was triggered after credible intelligence revealed a syndicate sourcing narcotics from other states for resale in Hyderabad. Early morning surveillance near Aramghar X Road led to interception of three suspected peddlers—identified as Gandhi Sandeep (23), Sangadi Santosh (26), and Kandepalli Shiva Kumar (23). The trio had reportedly arrived via private bus and were carrying 17 grams of MDMA crystals and 150 grams of ganja concealed in their luggage.

During preliminary questioning, the three admitted they procured the narcotics through an online contact—via social media — using a “dead-drop” method to avoid traceability, with supply routes traced back to Bengaluru and parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Following the arrest of the peddlers, police detained three other individuals—named Palaka Sai Babu (25), Kotha Vishal Reddy (28) and Pilishetty Sameer (24) — who were allegedly awaiting delivery at a petrol pump near Aramghar. From them police recovered five mobile phones and a small amount of cash (~₹ 9,700), believed to be advance payment for narcotic purchase.

The bust is significant because it showcases how modern narcotics networks are using social media contacts and interstate courier-like logistics to traffic illegal drugs — a departure from older smuggling methods. Police sources said that such dismantling operations are vital in intercepting supply chains before narcotics reach city dealers and end-users.

All six accused have been remanded to judicial custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Meanwhile, investigations continue to trace and apprehend the primary supplier — who remains at large.
