On the same day, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) carried out a targeted drug-busting operation in Lucknow, arresting two individuals and seizing 523 grams of high-grade MDMA, valued at roughly ₹80 lakh. The arrests were made after surveillance and intelligence indicated suspicious movements by two drug peddlers in an SUV near Suryakunwar Marg.
The accused — identified as Mohd Mohib (Yahiyaganj) and Deepak Singh (Shahjahanpur) — were found with not only the MDMA, but also paraphernalia including a weighing machine, packaging material, a scooter, and a mobile phone. Interrogation revealed that the duo was part of a larger network sourcing MDMA from outside Uttar Pradesh (notably from Delhi and Bihar) and distributing it within UP. According to the STF, Mohib had learned synthetic MDMA manufacturing techniques from an associate previously arrested in Mumbai, while Deepak acted as the courier.
Police registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Gosainganj police station. The bust is seen as a significant blow to growing synthetic-drug trafficking networks that have been expanding their footprint across North India. Law enforcement officials said the operation would continue with digital forensics and financial trail analysis to identify other members of the network.
