Delhi Police Bust Inter-State Cannabis Syndicate — 51.5 kg Ganja Seized, Five Arrested Across Multiple Raids

In a multi-state crackdown targeting the illegal cannabis supply chain, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Delhi Police dismantled an inter-state distribution network operating across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Tripura, resulting in the seizure of 51.5 kilograms of ganja and the arrest of five individuals linked to the racket.

The investigation began after police received intelligence indicating that consignments of ganja were being transported into Delhi using small vehicles and concealed luggage to avoid detection at checkpoints. Officers conducted a series of raids over several days, intercepting a car believed to be used for distribution, and seizing cash suspected to be proceeds from narcotics sales. The arrests were made at different points, revealing a decentralized network designed to reduce the risk of mass apprehension.

According to initial reports, the syndicate procured cannabis from Tripura — a region long considered a transit and cultivation zone — routed through Bihar and Uttar Pradesh before reaching Delhi’s retail pipelines. Police believe the group relied on courier-style transport, changing handlers at each state to maintain insulation and avoid leaving long, traceable travel trails.

The accused have been booked under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further questioning is underway to trace additional accomplices, transporters, and financial associates. Digital payment records and mobile phone data extracted from the accused are expected to assist in reconstructing the wider network.

Officials emphasized that the arrests reflect the evolving nature of cannabis trafficking in northern India, where small, agile groups are replacing large, centralized gangs to outmaneuver law enforcement. The Delhi Police have assured continued vigilance, stating that more raids may follow based on evidence collected during this operation.
