In a significant step towards fostering safer communities, the Women Safety Wing of Telangana police has forged two strategic partnerships, aiming to empower youth and strengthen gender-sensitive initiatives across the state. On Friday, the wing signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with two organisations, taking a proactive approach to community safety and youth development.
The first partnership was established with Rubaroo, a Hyderabad-based organisation dedicated to youth leadership and gender sensitisation. This two-year collaboration will focus on comprehensive training and awareness campaigns for vulnerable groups, including women and children, in various educational institutions and communities. The joint effort will involve creating training materials, preparing master trainers, and delivering awareness sessions, ensuring compliance with child safeguarding, data protection, and the POSH Act. This partnership will also support existing safety initiatives, such as those led by SHE Teams and Bharosa Centres.
Additionally, the Women Safety Wing joined hands with the Youngistaan Foundation to bolster the 'My Safe Village' programme, currently active in 126 villages across seven districts. This collaboration aims to create a network of mentors for trained adolescents and youth, fostering leadership skills and establishing youth ambassadors for community safety. The foundation will contribute to content development, documentation, and field implementation, while the Women Safety Wing will coordinate with district units and specialised teams for efficient execution.
"This partnership is a significant milestone in our journey to make Telangana safer," said ADGP Charu Sinha, emphasising the importance of youth-centric initiatives in creating sustainable change. These collaborations demonstrate the Telangana police's commitment to innovative and inclusive approaches to community safety, with a particular focus on empowering the youth as agents of positive transformation.
