Cyberabad's Highway Safety Initiative: A Comprehensive Approach

In a significant move to enhance road safety, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner, V C Sajjanar, has launched two dedicated highway patrol vehicles to monitor the bustling NH-44. This 54-km stretch, from Hasannagar crossroads to Hamid Cotton Mills, is a vital transportation artery but has also been a concern due to rising vehicular traffic and accident-prone areas.

The patrol teams, comprising a well-equipped crew of one Sub-Inspector, two ASIs, a head constable, a police constable, and a driver, will operate 24/7. Their primary focus is to enforce traffic regulations, targeting drunk driving, helmet and seat belt violations, and speeding. With a proactive approach, the Commissioner has also urged citizens to avoid earphone usage while driving or crossing roads, a simple yet often overlooked safety measure.

Beyond traffic management, these patrols will address social issues. They will monitor and curb illegal liquor sales and consumption along the highway, ensuring a safer environment for travelers. Moreover, the teams will provide practical assistance to motorists in need, from helping with vehicle breakdowns and fuel shortages to guiding visually impaired individuals.

In a community-oriented initiative, the patrol staff will engage with villagers, schoolchildren, and auto-rickshaw drivers, fostering awareness and education on various social topics. Additionally, they will maintain close coordination with essential services like hospitals, police stations, ambulances, and transport authorities, ensuring a swift response to emergencies and efficient management of the highway. This comprehensive strategy promises to significantly improve road safety and security on NH-44.
