Hyderabad's Drug Bust: Uncovering a Sophisticated Interstate Network

In a significant operation, Hyderabad's Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has struck a blow to drug trafficking, arresting six individuals and seizing a substantial stash of narcotics worth Rs 70 lakh. This coordinated effort with the Langar House Police has exposed an intricate web of suppliers, couriers, and local distributors, shedding light on the evolving tactics of drug peddlers.

The operation, led by Deputy Commissioner Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, was a strategic response to credible intelligence. On November 13, within the confines of Langar House, a joint team apprehended a diverse group, including an interstate hash oil courier, a supplier from Odisha, a local peddler, and two delivery agents. The haul included 5 kg of hash oil, 5 kg of ganja, and various tools of the trade, such as mobile phones and packaging materials.

Among the accused, Vykunta Rao, alias Balu, stands out as a repeat offender. With a history of narcotics cases, he had been absconding, showcasing the challenges in curbing drug trafficking. The investigation reveals a sophisticated modus operandi, where Balu sourced drugs from Odisha at low prices and distributed them across Hyderabad and Cyberabad in small, discreet packages. His use of virtual numbers and young relatives as couriers highlights a concerning trend of educated youth involvement in drug trade and consumption.

As the H-NEW continues to unravel this network, the operation underscores the need for heightened vigilance and public awareness. The police appeal to citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing the collective effort required to combat this pervasive issue. With the drug trade adapting to new methods, law enforcement agencies must stay one step ahead, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
