In a significant blow to the city's drug trade, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Masab Tank police have successfully dismantled a local drug distribution network, seizing a substantial quantity of MDMA and arresting three key players. The operation highlights the growing concern of drug abuse and the intricate web of supply chains that fuel this illicit trade.

The joint operation targeted a well-organized drug peddling chain, apprehending Upputuri Kartheek, Chirumamilla Balaji, and Tandra Deepak. Kartheek, the primary drug peddler, sourced MDMA from absconding suppliers in Bengaluru, repackaged it, and distributed it across Hyderabad. This operation's success is a testament to the authorities' commitment to curbing the drug menace. The police seized 11 grams of MDMA, worth a staggering Rs 4.65 lakh, indicating the scale of the operation and the potential profits involved.

According to DCP HNEW, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, the trio formed a hierarchical supply chain. Kartheek, driven by financial strain and personal drug use, sourced bulk MDMA, which was then redistributed by Balaji and sold at a premium by Deepak. This efficient system allowed them to quickly distribute the drugs and maximize profits. The HNEW has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in creating a drug-free Hyderabad.
