Hyderabad's Drug Bust: Unveiling a Complex Network

In a significant operation, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Masab Tank police have disrupted a sophisticated drug distribution network, seizing a substantial quantity of MDMA and apprehending three individuals. This bust sheds light on the intricate web of drug peddling that has been operating in the city.

The operation, a result of joint efforts, led to the arrest of Upputuri Kartheek, a 37-year-old from Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, along with his associates, Chirumamilla Balaji (32) and Tandra Deepak (29). The police confiscated 11 grams of MDMA, worth a staggering Rs 4.65 lakh in street value. This seizure is just the tip of the iceberg, as the investigation reveals a well-organized supply chain.

Kartheek, the primary drug peddler, had established a network with Balaji and Deepak, forming a hierarchical distribution system. He sourced bulk MDMA from suppliers in Bengaluru, repackaged it into smaller, one-gram sachets, and distributed them across Hyderabad. Balaji and Deepak played crucial roles in this operation, with Balaji redistributing the drugs and Deepak selling them at inflated prices to maximize profits. This efficient yet illegal business model highlights the financial motivations driving such criminal activities.

"The accused formed a chain of MDMA procurement and distribution, motivated by financial gains and personal drug habits," stated DCP HNEW, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath. The HNEW has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities. This bust serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against substance abuse and the importance of community involvement in creating a drug-free environment. With the investigation ongoing, Hyderabad's law enforcement aims to dismantle such networks and ensure the city's safety.
