Ugandan Woman Deported for Overstaying Visa, Suspected Drug Links

In a swift operation, the Hyderabad police have deported a Ugandan national, Juliana Victor Nabitaka, for overstaying her visa and suspected involvement in drug trafficking. This action highlights the city's ongoing battle against illegal immigration and drug-related crimes.

The 27-year-old woman, originally from Kampala, Uganda, was detained by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) in Tolichowki. Her arrest came after she failed to provide valid documentation for her extended stay in India. Nabitaka had entered the country on a tourist visa in February 2024, but her movements and activities soon raised suspicions.

During her time in India, Nabitaka traveled extensively, spending significant periods in major cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. It was in these urban centers that she allegedly made connections with foreign drug peddlers, leading to her involvement in the illicit drug trade. The police believe she turned to drug trafficking as a means of quick financial gain.

With her visa expiring in January 2025, Nabitaka's continued presence in India became illegal. The authorities, upon investigation, discovered her visa violation and suspected drug-related activities. The H-NEW, with the support of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, swiftly initiated deportation proceedings. She was escorted out of the country from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, with an exit permit ensuring she cannot re-enter India.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling drug-related crimes and illegal immigration. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing the collective responsibility in maintaining a drug-free Hyderabad.
