In a city where digital innovation thrives, the battle against crime takes on a unique dimension. The Cyberabad Commissionerate's 2025 annual report reveals a nuanced picture of law enforcement, with a marginal dip in overall crime, but a significant shift in the crime landscape.

The total cognisable offences decreased by 1.18%, from 37,689 in 2024 to 37,243 in 2025. However, this modest decline masks a more complex story. Property offences and road accidents saw an uptick, now comprising 15% and 12% of total crimes, respectively. Crimes against women and bodily offences also rose, with the former increasing from 8% to 9% and the latter from 6% to 8%. Despite these concerning trends, the report highlights a significant victory: a 35.9% plunge in cybercrime cases, down from 11,914 in 2024 to 7,636 in 2025. This reduction is particularly noteworthy given the previous year's surge, where cybercrime cases doubled.

The decline in cyber fraud is attributed to increased public awareness, prompt reporting, and effective coordination between law enforcement, banks, and digital platforms. The police's proactive approach to registering FIRs and improved recovery efforts have also played a pivotal role in restoring public trust. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty emphasized the impact of these measures, stating, "Citizens are now more cautious... Reporting has not decreased; in fact, it has improved, as people now see that there is a real possibility of recovering their money."
