In a significant development in the war on drugs, Hyderabad's law enforcement has struck a blow to a clandestine narcotics syndicate, seizing a substantial stash of illegal substances and arresting four individuals. This operation, a joint effort by the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Chikkadpally police, has exposed a well-organised drug network that operated in the shadows of the dark web.

The authorities confiscated a variety of drugs, including 22 grams of hydroponic ganja, known as OG, along with MDMA, ecstasy pills, and LSD, valued at approximately Rs 3.12 lakh. Among the apprehended are a local drug peddler, Ummidi Immanuel, and two sub-peddlers from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, who were instrumental in the local distribution network. The syndicate's reach extended beyond state lines, utilising courier services to transport drugs, with a private employee, Talabattula Taraka Laxmikanth Ayyappa, identified as a consumer.

The sophistication of this operation is evident in their use of the Tor browser to access the dark web and cryptocurrency transactions to conceal their financial activities. HNEW DCP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath revealed the intricate web of operations, where the primary accused's live-in partner managed sales and accounts, and a delivery agent facilitated local transportation. The syndicate's ability to launder money through bank accounts to fund an extravagant lifestyle further underscores the complexity of the case.
