Mangaluru Unites Against Drugs: A Citywide Crusade

In a powerful display of community action, Mangaluru is gearing up for a massive Drug-Free Mangaluru campaign, set to kick off on December 27, 2025, at the T.M.A.Y. International Convention Centre. This ambitious initiative, spearheaded by the Make A Change Foundation and the Mangaluru City Police, aims to tackle the pressing issue of substance abuse among the city's youth. With a staggering 102 awareness programmes planned across the district, this campaign promises to be a significant step towards a healthier, drug-free society.

The campaign's launch event will be graced by prominent figures, including Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader and Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, emphasizing the initiative's importance and reach. Suhail Kandak, the driving force behind this movement and Founder of the Make A Change Foundation, emphasized the campaign's youth-centric approach. "Our primary focus is on creating awareness among young people, especially students, about the perils of drug abuse, and encouraging them to embrace a creative and healthy lifestyle," he stated at a recent press conference.

The campaign's strategy involves a diverse range of activities, from engaging religious leaders of various faiths to utilizing the popularity of Tulu cinema stars to spread the message. The Foundation has already made significant strides with awareness workshops in colleges, poster campaigns, and substance abuse sensitization programs in various institutions. Kandak further stressed the need for prevention, stating, "We aim to guide youth towards positive life choices, away from the allure of drugs."

As Mangaluru prepares for this citywide movement, the campaign organizers have extended a warm invitation to students and youth across the district to participate actively. With such a comprehensive approach, the Drug-Free Mangaluru campaign is poised to make a substantial impact, fostering a safer and more aware community.
