In a significant step towards strengthening drug law enforcement, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) wing conducted a comprehensive training session on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), in Machilipatnam, Krishna District. This initiative aimed to empower police personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle the complex nature of NDPS cases effectively.
The training event, held at the district headquarters, witnessed the participation of 80 writers and computer operators from various police stations across Krishna. The EAGLE team provided an in-depth understanding of the NDPS Act's provisions, ensuring that the attendees were well-versed in the legal framework. The session covered critical aspects, from the initial stages of receiving information to the meticulous process of filing charge sheets.
A key focus was on the practical implementation of procedures during search and seizure operations, with an emphasis on adhering to the GSR 899(E)-2022 Rules. The EAGLE Inspector meticulously explained the sequence of steps, including the collection of samples, certification, and the subsequent chemical analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The importance of judicial oversight and the role of the District Drug Committee in the destruction process were also highlighted.
The training culminated with a practical session on completing the mandatory forms for NDPS cases. Additionally, the EAGLE team briefed the participants on their ongoing initiatives, such as Operation Garuda and Safe Campus Zone, encouraging active participation from all. With this training, the EAGLE wing has taken a proactive approach to enhancing the district's law enforcement capabilities, ensuring a more informed and coordinated response to the challenges posed by narcotic substances.
As Inspector V Peddiraju, DCRB, remarked, "This training is a vital step in our ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace effectively. By empowering our personnel with the right skills and knowledge, we aim to strengthen our district's defense against the illegal drug trade." The event signifies a commitment to continuous improvement in law enforcement, fostering a safer environment for the community.
