In a shocking revelation, the Anakapalle district police have exposed a sophisticated ganja trafficking network, arresting eight individuals, including a surprising key playera 28-year-old software engineer, Gade Renuka, who operated from Bengaluru. This bust highlights a growing trend of high-quality Sheelavathi strain ganja trade, which has gained popularity, even overshadowing the once-renowned Malana Cream.
Renuka, a native of Santhakaviti in Vizianagaram district, had established a significant presence in the illegal trade, earning her the title 'lady don'. Her influence spanned across multiple locations, including Payakaraopeta, Narsipatnam, Saluru, and Bengaluru. The operation's sophistication was evident in the network's structure, with rented houses in strategic locations like Bengaluru and Coimbatore, facilitating the trafficking of ganja from the Andhra-Odisha border to Tamil Nadu and even as far as Sri Lanka.
The police's interception near Srugavaram village led to the seizure of 74 kg of dry ganja, vehicles, and mobile phones. The investigation revealed a well-organized supply chain. Renuka and her associate, Surya Kalidas, sourced the ganja from tribal communities in Odisha, with the help of middleman Adduri Prasad. The operation then utilized drivers to transport the goods to the Rajanagaram highway junction, a distribution hub for further smuggling to Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. The gang's reach was extensive, with Renuka's connections enabling the sale of smaller packets across Tamil Nadu and even facilitating international smuggling.
This case underscores the evolving nature of the illegal drug trade, with educated professionals like Renuka, who seemingly led a double life, playing significant roles. The police's successful operation in dismantling this network is a crucial step in combating the growing ganja trade, but it also raises questions about the potential involvement of other tech-savvy individuals in such clandestine activities.
