Hyderabad Police Seize MDMA, Foiling New Year's Eve Plans

In a significant drug bust, the Miyapur Police in Hyderabad have thwarted a potential New Year's Eve party drug distribution plan, seizing 10.5 grams of MDMA and arresting two individuals in the process. This operation, a result of swift action on credible intelligence, highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the city.

The police received a tip-off about two individuals possessing MDMA, a popular party drug, for sale in the Miyapur area. Acting quickly, a team was dispatched to Miyapur X Road, where they apprehended the suspects, later identified as Kethavath Ravi, a 28-year-old mason, and Jerpula Ravi, a 35-year-old auto driver, both residents of Maharashtra. The timely intervention prevented a substantial amount of MDMA from hitting the streets during the festive season.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to procuring the drugs from Mumbai just days ago, intending to capitalize on the increased demand during New Year celebrations. This revelation underscores the complex inter-state drug supply networks and the challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing such activities. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with the accused formally arrested and the contraband seized.

The operation, supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj, sends a clear message about the police's commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment during the festive season. The ongoing investigation aims to unravel the broader supply chain, potentially leading to further arrests and disrupting the drug trafficking network. This proactive approach is crucial in addressing the growing concerns over substance abuse and ensuring public safety.
