In a startling revelation, the Telangana Police Annual Report 2025 exposes a surge in drug-related crimes, with 2,542 cases registered under the NDPS Act, a 31% increase from the previous year. This alarming trend, according to DGP Shivadhar Reddy, is a result of the EAGLE forces' rigorous enforcement across the state. The statistics paint a grim picture, with 8,322 accused persons and narcotics valued at a staggering Rs 172 crore seized.
The report highlights a worrying shift in drug trafficking methods. Railway networks have become a significant conduit, with 55 cases detected, leading to the arrest of 70 individuals and the seizure of 885 kilograms of ganja. Even more concerning is the emergence of local drug manufacturing, with 12 clandestine units busted, six of which were established in 2025. This indicates a dangerous trend of self-sufficiency in drug production. The EAGLE Force, through its strategic intelligence operations, has successfully dismantled several organized networks, leading to the arrest of 20 foreign nationals, including Nigerians and Nepalese citizens, and the deportation of 76 others.
The authorities' commitment to eradicating this menace is evident in their massive drug disposal drive, where 26,988 kg of ganja, worth Rs 142.8 crore, was destroyed in 2025 alone. This three-year campaign has resulted in the elimination of 1,23,897 kilograms of ganja, valued at Rs 376.47 crore, setting a national record. The financial backbone of these syndicates has also been targeted, with properties worth Rs 41.47 crore attached in 2025, bringing the three-year total to Rs 97.27 crore.
