Mizoram's Fake Drug Scam: 9 Arrested, Police Involvement Unveiled

In a shocking revelation, nine individuals, including four constables, have been arrested in Mizoram, exposing a sophisticated fraud scheme involving fake drugs. This operation, led by the Special Narcotics Police Station in Aizawl, sheds light on a well-orchestrated plan that has allegedly been executed more than six times.

Superintendent of Police Zosangliana revealed the intricate details of the scam. The accused women, acting as scouts, would lure unsuspecting buyers interested in purchasing drugs or contraband items. Once a deal was agreed upon, a meeting time and location were set. However, the twist came when the buyers arrived at the designated spot; they were "arrested" by constables posing as CID officers. These fake officers would then extort money from the buyers, who were later released, unaware of the scam.

The operation's breakthrough came on December 15 when three constables were apprehended at the New Capital Complex, awaiting a delivery of methamphetamine tablets. The investigation took an unexpected turn when the real drugs were found to be fake during examination after being seized from a woman, who was the mastermind of this intricate racket. This led to the subsequent arrest of another constable and four more women, bringing the total number of arrests to nine.

This case highlights the disturbing trend of law enforcement officers allegedly abusing their power for personal gain. With the involvement of constables in this elaborate fraud, the public's trust in the police force may be at stake. The authorities must now focus on a thorough investigation to uncover the full extent of this operation and ensure that justice is served, restoring public confidence in the system.
