In a significant operation, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Masab Tank police have disrupted a sophisticated drug distribution network, seizing 11 grams of MDMA valued at Rs 4.65 lakh and arresting three key players. This bust sheds light on the intricate and well-organized nature of drug trafficking in the city.

The operation targeted a local drug peddler, Upputuri Kartheek, alias Alex, who had established a supply chain with two sub-peddlers, Chirumamilla Balaji and Tandra Deepak. Kartheek, a resident of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, formed a partnership with Balaji, tapping into his knowledge of MDMA sourcing. The duo's operation involved frequent trips to Bengaluru to procure MDMA from elusive suppliers. Kartheek would then repackage the drugs into one-gram sachets, ensuring a steady supply for distribution across Hyderabad.

This network's success relied on a hierarchical structure. Kartheek, the primary source, supplied bulk MDMA to Balaji, who acted as the middleman, redistributing the drugs. Deepak, the final link in the chain, sold the repackaged MDMA at higher prices to unsuspecting buyers, motivated by financial gain and personal drug habits. DCP HNEW, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, emphasized the organized nature of their operation, highlighting the need for vigilance and community cooperation.

The HNEW has issued a public appeal, urging Hyderabad residents to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities.
