Calangute Drug Raid Nets Meth Worth Lakhs

In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, the Calangute Police have successfully intercepted a substantial amount of methamphetamine, valued at approximately 4.5 lakh, in a well-coordinated operation. This raid, which took place on December 23, 2025, near the iconic Little Goa Restaurant, has led to the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect, identified as Vishnu Harmalkar, a resident of Aldona in Bardez.

Led by the diligent PSI Rajaram Bagkar and his team, including constables Anshul Ghadi, Sandip Gawas, Siddhant Lamgaonkar, Gaurang Surlekar, and Gitesh Gawas, the operation was a response to credible intelligence suggesting an imminent drug supply transaction. The suspect was allegedly found with 45.3 grams of a brownish crystal substance, strongly suspected to be methamphetamine, a highly addictive and illegal stimulant.

The raid, conducted with precision, ensured the presence of independent witnesses, adding a layer of transparency to the process. The subsequent seizure of the suspected contraband was swift and efficient, demonstrating the Calangute Police's commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the region. The case has been registered under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, with PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar formally recording the offence.

As the investigation unfolds under the watchful eyes of PI Paresh Naik, SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe, and North Goa SP Harishchandra Madkaikar, the public can expect further updates. This operation serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against narcotics and the tireless efforts of law enforcement to ensure a safer, drug-free community.
