In the bustling city of Hyderabad, a silent menace has been claiming victims, leaving a trail of injuries and panic in its wake. The culprit? A seemingly innocent pastimekite flyingtransformed into a dangerous affair by the use of illegal Chinese manjha.
The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate has taken a stand against this hazardous trend, booking an alarming 53 cases against sellers of the deadly kite strings. These actions follow a series of accidents that have sent a chill down the spines of residents, especially two-wheeler riders. The sharp, glass-coated strings, when snapped, can turn into invisible blades, slicing through the air and causing deep lacerations to unsuspecting passersby.
The problem is particularly acute in areas like Miyapur, Chandanagar, Madhapur, HITEC City, Kukatpally, and Gachibowli, where kite flying from apartment rooftops and terraces has led to numerous incidents. A motorcyclist on the Balanagar road became one of the latest victims, suffering severe neck injuries when a rogue string struck him. This has prompted the police to issue a public safety advisory, urging citizens to use only cotton threads for kite flying and to avoid flying kites near busy roads and electric lines.
"The use of Chinese manjha is not just a legal issue but a matter of public safety and environmental concern," a police spokesperson warned. "We are committed to eradicating this menace and ensuring that our residents can enjoy their leisure activities without endangering themselves or the wildlife around them." With strict enforcement and public awareness, the authorities aim to bring an end to this silent threat, allowing the skies of Cyberabad to be a source of joy rather than a hidden danger.
