In a powerful display of unity and awareness, thousands of Guntur's residents, led by the district police, took to the streets on a cycling rally to combat the growing menace of drug abuse. The event, titled "Drugs Vaddu Bro, Cycle Thokku Bro," sent a clear message: drugs are not welcome in Guntur, and the youth are taking charge.
The rally, a brainchild of Eaglechief A Ravi Krishna, aimed to educate and empower the younger generation, who are often the primary targets of drug peddlers. Ravi Krishna emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Our youth are the backbone of our nation's future, and we must protect them from external threats." He further warned that neighbouring countries are actively trying to weaken India's youth through drug trafficking, a serious concern that requires collective action.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with students, cyclists, and the general public joining police personnel in this unique awareness campaign. Guntur district collector Thameel Ansariya, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, encouraged cycling for better health and as a means to stay away from drug addiction. The route covered various landmarks, starting from Tidco Housing and passing through several key locations, including colleges and residential areas, before concluding at the Police Parade Grounds.
As the rally came to an end, police officials urged citizens to be vigilant and report any drug-related activities. With the participation of various schools, cycling clubs, and local organizations, the event marked a significant step towards a drug-free Guntur, demonstrating the power of community engagement in addressing social issues.
