Andhra Pradesh's Cycle Crusade Against Drugs

In a remarkable display of community engagement, the Abhyudayam cycle rally concluded its journey on Saturday, leaving a trail of awareness and determination in its wake. This ambitious initiative, spanning 52 days and 1,000 kilometers across five districts of Andhra Pradesh, aimed to eradicate drug abuse and educate the youth about its perils. With over 44,000 participants, including 18,000 students, the rally became a powerful movement, capturing the attention of thousands in North Andhra.

The event, conceived by Visakhapatnam Range DIG Gopinath Jetty and led by Anakapalli district SP Tuhin Sinha, was not just a physical journey but a mission to empower. The rally's impact was felt across the region, particularly in Anakapalli, where it traversed 179 kilometers, reaching 95 villages and countless educational institutions. The participants engaged with students and teachers, fostering a dialogue about drug abuse prevention.

The closing ceremony in Anakapalli district was a testament to the rally's success. A 3-km walkathon, attended by thousands, commenced in the early morning hours, with Junior Principal Civil Judge D. Bharana Sri officiating the start. The procession culminated in a powerful pledge, as participants vowed to reject drugs and foster a drug-free society. This collective commitment was further emphasized by the formation of a human chain by students and police personnel, symbolizing unity against a common enemy.

"The Abhyudayam cycle rally has ignited a flame of awareness and responsibility in our youth," said SP Tuhin Sinha. "It has united communities and empowered them with knowledge, marking a significant step towards a healthier, drug-free Andhra Pradesh." This initiative's success underscores the power of community engagement in addressing societal issues, leaving a lasting impact on the region's fight against drug abuse.
