Ongole's Cannabis Crackdown: 11 kg Seized, Three Arrested

In a significant blow to drug trafficking, Prakasam district police have seized a substantial quantity of cannabis, weighing approximately 11 kilograms, and arrested three individuals in a targeted operation at Ongole Railway Station. This coordinated effort, led by SP V Harshavardhan Raju, involved meticulous searches of train compartments and station premises, utilizing the expertise of various police units and a sniffer dog.

The operation focused on Train No 18189, the Ernakulam Express, running between Ongole and Kavali. The police teams, including personnel from the Women Police Station, Special Party, Eagle Team, Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF), conducted thorough inspections with the aid of sniffer dog Roxy. The search operation extended to station parcel centres and suspicious baggage, leaving no stone unturned in the quest to eradicate narcotics.

The meticulous efforts of the police force resulted in the arrest of three suspects: G Sandil Kumar, a 50-year-old, and B Murugan, aged 28, both from Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, and Blessin, a 20-year-old from Idukki district, Kerala. The accused are now in the custody of the GRP for further investigation, as the police send a strong message against the illegal trade and consumption of cannabis and narcotics.
