Drug Bust in Vizag: Student Leader and Associates Arrested

In a significant drug bust, the city police of Visakhapatnam have arrested three individuals, including a prominent student leader, for their alleged involvement in the possession and distribution of LSD blots. This incident sheds light on the growing concern of substance abuse among youth and the potential involvement of political affiliates.

The arrests were made on Monday when the police apprehended P. Konda Reddy, the YSRCP student wing president, along with M. Geeth Charan and T. Harshavardan. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Mary Prashanti, the trio's close association and addiction to drugs and alcohol led to their downfall.

The investigation revealed that Konda Reddy, facing a shortage of their usual supply, instructed Charan to travel to Bengaluru to procure LSD blots from a known source. Charan's journey on October 31st culminated in a train ride back to Vizag on November 2nd, but his mission was not destined to succeed. The police, acting on a tip-off, strategically positioned a team at the railway station, where they intercepted Konda Reddy and Harshvardhan as they received the illicit substance from Charan.

The authorities seized 48 LSD blots, three mobile phones, and a two-wheeler from the accused. This operation underscores the police's commitment to combating drug trafficking and the potential influence of political connections in such activities. With the arrests, the police have taken a significant step towards disrupting the supply chain of illegal substances in the region.

As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits further insights into this case, which may prompt discussions on youth drug abuse, political accountability, and the ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug trade in Visakhapatnam.
