Hyderabad Gears Up for Kite Festival with Traffic Management

The vibrant skies of Hyderabad are set to host a colourful spectacle as the International Kite and Sweet Festival takes centre stage at Parade Grounds from January 13th to 15th. However, with thousands expected to flock to the venue, the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure smooth navigation and manage the anticipated congestion.

The advisory highlights that the bustling roads surrounding the festival venue, including CTO X Road, Plaza X Roads, and Tivoli X Roads, will experience temporary traffic restrictions and diversions from 10 am to 10 pm on all three days. Citizens are urged to steer clear of these areas during the festival hours to avoid getting caught in potential gridlocks. With multiple junctions like CTO, Plaza, and Tivoli expected to bear the brunt of the traffic, the police have strategically planned diversions to manage the flow.

To accommodate the influx of visitors, designated parking areas have been arranged at various locations, such as the Gymkhana Exhibition and Cricket Grounds, and the Sports Authority of Telangana State. A dedicated parking area at Dhobighat will cater to visitors from Kukatpally, Medchal, and Bowenpally, with a shuttle service connecting it to the Parade Grounds. The police have also thoughtfully designated specific entry points for the general public, ensuring a seamless experience for festival-goers.

"We request citizens to cooperate and adhere to the advisory for a smooth festival experience," said a spokesperson from the Malkajgiri Traffic Police. This proactive traffic management plan aims to ensure that the festival brings joy to attendees without causing significant disruptions to the city's transportation network.
