Nigerian National Deported for Overstaying, Suspected Drug Links

In a swift and decisive action, Hyderabad police have deported a Nigerian citizen, Obasi James Victor, for overstaying his visa and suspected involvement in drug-related activities. This move highlights the city's commitment to maintaining national security and addressing the growing concerns surrounding drug trafficking and abuse.

Victor, 38, initially entered India on a tourist visa in 2011 and engaged in various businesses, including cloth export and restaurant management. However, his legal status changed when his passport and visa expired, rendering his stay in the country illegal. The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) team's investigation revealed that Victor had been associating with drug peddlers and engaging in unlawful activities to fund a lavish lifestyle.

The authorities took action when Victor was found wandering in a suspicious manner near Tolichowki Police Station. During interrogation, he admitted to overstaying his visa and not possessing valid travel documents. H-NEW promptly initiated the deportation process, obtaining the necessary travel documents and permits. Victor was escorted by H-NEW officers and deported to Nigeria on January 13, ensuring he could no longer engage in any illegal activities in India.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by visa overstayers and the potential risks they bring to society. The Hyderabad police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially regarding drug abuse. With the increasing global connectivity, the authorities' swift action demonstrates the importance of maintaining a secure and lawful environment, protecting both citizens and the nation's interests.
